The Buena Vista University baseball team takes the field at 4:00pm Thursday afternoon to begin play in the 2016 Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament inside of Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The second-seed Beavers will take on the winner of third-seed Luther and sixth-seed Simpson.

BVU is making its eighth straight IIAC  Tournament appearance and 16th all-time.  In 11 trips under head coach Steve Eddie, the team has an overall tournament record of 15-16 and has won two titles (2010 and 2014).

This marks just the second time BVU has entered as the second-seed.  The first was in 2011 when the team went just 1-2 but would go on to receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Central Regional and eventually became one of the final four teams standing at the DIII College World Series.

The 2016 team brings a 31-9 overall record to Cedar Rapids this time around after a 22-6 mark in confernce play.  The team went 9-1 over its final 10 games (all on the road) to wrap up the regular season which included a 7-1 mark of the Norse and Storm - one of which will be its first match-up of the tournament.
