Men's Soccer Handed 7-2 Loss by Simpson to Conclude Season

Box Score

Simpson College broke open a 2-1 halftime contest with five second-half goals en route to a 7-2 victory over the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Tuesday night in Indianola.

The Storm got the scoring started just two minutes into the contest before the Beavers tied it up on Willy Salamanca's fourth goal of the year on another assist from Gum Riak.

Things didn't stay tied for long as Simpson came back five minutes later and took what proved to be a 2-1 halftime lead.

BVU again tied things up late in the 57' when Steve Nyaye turned loose down the right side  before drilling home his fifth goal of the year.

The Storm (11-7-1, 5-3 IIAC) again wasted little time responding as they regained the lead for good three minutes later with the first of five unanswered goals.

Salamanca finished with a team-high four shots with Riak right behind with three.  As a team, BVU was outshot in the contest, 40-16.

Matt Tennyson made the final start of his career and went the distance and did register 14 saves.

Buena Vista wraps up its season at 5-12-1 (1-7 IIAC).  The match was also the final one in the careers of Tennyson, Christian Morales, Juan Rosales, Fabian Salazar, Carlos Silva, Luis Salazar and Eric Powers.
