Women's Hoops Rolls to 10th Win with 99-45 Victory over the Dutch

The Buena Vista women's basketball team ran out to a 26-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back on Saturday afternoon, as the Beavers had five players score in double figures during a 99-45 home win over visiting Central College.

Becaa Pennington hit a pair of three's and added a layup as BVU opened the game on a 13-0 run over the first 3:30 minutes.  Central scored four straight points before Sidney Beckman hit one of her team-high five three-point shots to help spark another 13-0 run, as the Beavers led by 20 after one.

BVU kept building its during the second quarter, as Central didn't reach double digits until there was 3:38 left in the first half.  BVU, which made seven first-half three's, scored the final nine points of the first half to take a 46-15 lead into the break.

A 17-2 run to start the second half, put the Beavers in front 63-17 with less than four minutes to go in the third quarter.  The starters didn't see the floor as long in the final 20 minutes, but the team continued to push up the lead. 

Buena Vista led 70-25 going to the final frame, and got 18 points in the final quarter by its bench to finish of the largest margin of victory for the year.

Lexi Fisher turned in a game-high 19 points while Pennington was right behind with 18 points, five assists and two steals.  Beckman came off the bench to finish with 17 points, Jasmyn Flynn-Graves added 11 while Jordan Tynes turned in 10.  Lacey Vokt hauled in a team-best seven rebounds to go along with her five assists.

Buena Vista shot nearly 46 percent from the field, including a season-high 14 three-point shots. 

Emily Dine made 4-of-8 from downtown and scored 18 points to lead Central (4-13, 1-5 IIAC).

Buena Vista has now won a season-high three straight games and moves to 10-7 (4-2 IIAC).  The team looks to extend the streak when it plays at Luther College (13-4, 5-1 IIAC) on Wednesday night at 6:00pm.
