Men's Soccer Comes up Short in 5-1 Loss at Luther

Box Score

Marcus Krause scored his team-leading fourth goal of the year for Buena Vista on Saturday afternoon, but Luther College proved to be too much in the end, as the Norse handed the Beavers a tough 5-1 loss.

Myles Norville registered his third goal of the year less than eight minutes into the match on a header following a corner kick to give Luther an early 1-0 lead.  That lead doubled when Norville added his second goal of the afternoon on a shot from inside the box midway through the first half.

Krause scored an unassisted goal five minutes later to make it a 2-1 margin at the half.

The Norse, who outshot the Beavers, 18-1 in the first half, held a 7-2 edge in the second, including a pair of goals in a four-minute span less than 10 minutes into the half.  Luther (7-3-2, 2-0-0 IIAC) added a final insurance goal during the 74'.

Joseph Dobson added the only other shot for BVU, which dips to 4-7-0 overall (0-2-0 IIAC).

Next up for the Beavers is a non-conference home match against Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00pm.
