Box Score The Buena Vista women's basketball cut a 21-point second-half deficit down to five, but it was Coe College closing the game on a 25-10 run and handing the Beavers an 82-68 loss on Wednesday night inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
Junior Lexi Fisher led BVU with 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting (2-of-7 from downtown), while fellow junior Jasmyn Flynn-Graves was right behind with 13 points. Senior Lacey Vokt chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. Jasmine Demers came off the bench and recorded eight points, to go along with three assists and three steals. Senior Shelby Wiederhoeft added six points and a team-leading eight rebounds.
As a team, the Beavers shot 27-of-74 (36.5 percent) from the field and connected on only 4-of-20 attempts (20.0 percent) from long range.
Coe built a 40-28 lead at halftime and extended it to 21 points just three minutes into the second half.
The Kohawks still led by 17 (58-41) with 13:23 to go before BVU slowly started to mount a comeback.
Fisher drilled one of her two three-point buckets to close the gap to 61-51 at the 10:07 mark of the second half before a pair of layups and a free-throw by Vokt got the Beavers all the way back within 63-58 with 7:26 still to play.
A pair of free-throws and three-point bucket quickly put Coe back up by double-digits and BVU was unable to get any closer than seven over the final four minutes of the contest.
Mickey Hasche led the Kohawks (10-4 (3-0 IIAC) with a game-high 21 points, while Allie Wirth just missed out on a triple double with nine points, eight assists and 12 rebounds.
