The Buena Vista men's soccer team put up a strong fight on Saturday night against #19 Luther College, but the Beavers came up a little short with the Norse going on to win, 3-0.

The Norse got on the board late in the 18' before getting an own goal off a corner kick with only three minutes to go before halftime.

Then just minutes into the second half, Luther extended the lead to 3-0, and that's the way the score remained the rest of the way.

Luther (12-1, 3-1 IIAC) held a 10-2 advantage in total shots in the first half before outshooting BVU 6-2 over the final 45 minutes.

Senior Steve Gutschenritter took two of the team's four shots in the contest.

Sophomore Matt Tennyson got the start and went the distance in-goal, allowing the three goals, despite coming up with several stellar saves in the contest.  He totaled six overall, including five in the first half.

The Beavers (4-8-1, 0-4 IIAC) will play the first of their two remaining home contest this Tuesday night, October 14, when they step out of conference play to entertain Dordt College at 7:30pm.
