Men's Soccer Hangs Tough in 2-0 Loss to Wartburg

Wartburg College got a late goal in the first half for a 1-0 lead at the break before adding a second midway through the final half en route to a 2-0 victory over the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Wednesday night.

Wartburg held an 8-0 shot advantage in the first half, but BVU closed the gap to a 5-4 advantage in the second.

The first of the Knights goals came just before the 40th minute and came off a rebounded shot that had been saved by a diving Matt Tennyson off to the left of the goal.

Four different players took shots for BVU with three of those coming on goal.

Its the fourth match this season that the Beavers have lost by two goals or less.

Tennyson went the distance in-goal and was solid, allowing two tough goals, but coming up with five saves.

Buena Vista sits at 3-7 overall (0-2 IIAC) and will look for its first league win of the year on Saturday night when the team travels to Simpson College for a 7:00pm start.
