John Alicea joined the Buena Vista University football staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2024.
Prior to arrving at BVU, Alicea served as an assistant coach at King's College in 2023 where he coached both the tight ends and halfbacks. During that season, he coached one all-conference performer.
Prior to King's College, Alicea spent five seasons on the Albright coaching staff and served as the Lions Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator. He arrived there in 2019 after spending the previous two seasons as the Offensive Line Coach at Anna Maria College. During his time there, he coached one ECFC All-Conference selection on the offensive line.
Prior to his time at Anna Maria, he spent three seasons as the Offensive Line Coach at his high school alma mater, Bridgewater-Raritan, in New Jersey. Alicea helped guide Bridgewater to undefeated regular seasons in 2015 and 2016, culminating in a combined record of 22-2, losing both games to Westfield High School in the championship finals.
Alicea played four years at Stonehill College during his undergrad time. He played all positions on the offensive line with a focus with the interior offensive line positions. He also earned a bachelor's degree in European History from Stonehill.
He is a 2010 graduate of Bridgewater-Rarirtan High School.
