WAVERLY, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2026) - After two weeks off from battling mother nature, the Buena Vista softball team was back in action on Sunday to begin its American Rivers Conference schedule at Wartburg College, but it was the Knights coming away with the sweep after a pair of five-inning victories by scores of 9-0 and 18-0.
In the opener, it was a 1-0 game going to the fourth inning before the Knights began pulling away with five runs before adding the final three in the bottom of the fifth. It was all Wartburg (22-8, 7-1 A-R-C) in game two as it posted nine runs in both the first and fourth inning and tallied 17 base hits.
Jordan Fabirkiewicz singled for the team's lone hit in game one while
Zoey Thayer singled for its only one of game two.
Buena Vista is 6-19 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and travels to Nebraska Wesleyan for a doubleheader on Wednesday, Apr. 15, starting at 3 p.m.
