BEREA, Ky. (March 13, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team enjoyed a strong ending to its spring break trip on Friday evening by securing a strong 7-0 non-conference victory at Berea College.
It was all BVU from the onset against a shorthanded Berea squad.
Hannah Higgins and
Taylor Fritz rolled to a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles followed by a 6-0 shuout at No. 2 from the tandem of
Fiona Astleford and
Jenna Onstot. The Beavers won at No. 3 by walkover.
Higgins and Fritz later went on to secure straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and were joined by
Abbey Meseck,
Charlie Rayford and
Allison Cook, who did the same at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5. BVU again was a walkover winner at No. 6.
"It feels terrific seeing the ladies close out our trip with two wins in a row," said BVU head coach
Dan Taylor." "We drove for eight hours before the match, so it took a little bit for them to get going. Once they loosened up and really focused, they started to roll. Overall our spring trip was very successful. The ladies continue to improve and develop, and I looking forward to see what they can do against a few more opponents in the closing weeks of the season."
Buena Vista improves to 3-15 overall and continues its spring schedule on March 28 with matches against Northwestern-St. Paul and Ripon College. Both matches are scheduled to be played in Owatonna, Minn.
