STORM LAKE, Iowa - Valorant wins their second NECC championship in program history. The Beavers won a trilling five map game over Wayne State College, 3-2. With the victory the Beavers will auto qualify into the national tournament which will start in a couple of weeks.
The Beavers kept battling all night as they got down 1-0 and 2-1 before winning the final two maps claiming the title. Each map was played close except map two where the Beavers won 13-4. Maps three and four were very close with BVU losing 13-11 in map three and winning 15-13 in overtime on map four.
BVU revenged a loss early this spring to the Wildcats. The Beavers out killed the Wildcats 438 to 403 and had 170 assists to the Wildcats 132. The Beaver finish the season 7-1 overall and 7-3 if which include activation games.
Angel Lopez led the way with 110 kills in the series while
Cameron Germain was close behind with 92.
Will Roland and Libby Franken had 89 and 88 respectively.
In the Fall of 2023 the Beavers won NECC Navigators Midwest with victories over Conrodia St.-Paul, Southern Illinois and Wisconsin-Green Bay. It is the second consecutive year where the Beavers qualified for nationals.
