HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 4, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team battled from start to finish on Tuesday against Lancaster Bible College, but the Beavers eventually came up short in the end, 6-1.
At No. 1 doubles,
Hailey Meseck and
Macy Weller put together another solid match and would put the pressure on Chargers early by winning that match-up, 6-2. Lancaster, however, did respond to take both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Weller jumped out to the early lead in her No. 2 singles match after a 6-1 win in the opening set, but her opponent rallied in the second to even the match with a 6-3 triumph, and then the two battled it out in the tiebreaker but Weller came up just short, 11-9.
Fritz had a battle of her own at No. 1 singles but came up on the short end of a hard fought, 7-6, 6-4 decision. Meseck put the Beavers on the board with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3, but the Chargers went on to claim the match with straight set wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
Weather permitting, the Beavers are scheduled to return to the court on Wednesday morning, Mar. 5, to face Johnson & Wales.
