Storm Lake, Iowa - The BVU Overwatch Gold squad opened up Midwest Valley Esports play last night against the Wartburg Knights. The Beavers and the Knights played an highly competitive match which BVU was able to come out on top 4-2. In the two years of MVEC this marks the first victory in league play for the Beavers.
BVU jumped came out firing taking an early 2-0 lead. The Beavers won game one 2-0 with game mode being Control and map Lijang Tower. In game two the two teams played on New Queen Street and won the push 1-0. The Knights got on the board in game three winning Escort on Shambali Monastery 3-1.
Wartburg continued their comeback winning game four and evening the series at 2-2 with a 3-2 victory on New Junk City playing Flashpoint. The Beavers bounced back taking a 3-2 lead winning Hybrid on King's Row 3-2. Game six was a battle as the two teams played to a 3-3 draw meaning neither team earned a point. The round was Hybrid and played on Midtown. BVU was able to close out the match with a 1-0 victory on Colosseo playing Push.
Next weeks opponent will be a touch one as they play a tough Coe College squad at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 29. Coe beat Wartburg in week one 4-0 winning 2-0, 2-1, 1-0 and 1-0.
