STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista Rocket League team continues to have a solid year staying unbeaten in Midwest Valley Esports Conference play with a 4-1 (1-2, 3-0, 8-2, 2-0, 7-3) victory over the Wartburg College Knights. The Knights fall to 1-1 while the Beavers improve to 2-0.
Game one saw the Beavers jump out fo a 1-0 lead with a goal by
Skyler Keller. The score remained that way until Wartburg used two late goals to get the first victory 2-1. The rest of the series was all Beavers as they won game two, 3-0 with two goals by
Ashton Greenough and one by
Ryan Webb. The Beavers had 11 total shots in the game.
Game three was all Beavers winning 8-2. BVU had 17 shots with Keller getting four and Webb and Greenough each collecting two. Beavers had six assists and three saves in the game. They extended their lead to 3-1 with a 2-0 victory in game four.
Matt Mills led the way with two goals while the Beavers had 11 shots in the game. The final game was close until the Beavers used late goals to come away with the series win with a 7-3 victory.
Keller had six shots, three goals and three assists in the game while Webb had three goals and three assists. Mills finished with one goal.
The Beavers continue play in MVEC next Tuesday at 7 pm against Coe College. Coe sits at 0-2 on the season. The Beavers will also compete in NECC and CCL play this week.
