LA VERNE, Calif. (March 7, 2023) - The Buena Vista softball team resumed spring break action with a double header against the University of La Verne. They lost both games, the first game 14-3 and the second 7-3.

GAME 1

BVU got on the board first on a RBI single from Emma LaFave, but that would prove to be their only lead of the game as La Verne responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. It was the first of 14 unanswered runs from La Verne. BVU would rally for two runs in the fifth, but the effort would not be enough as the Beavers dropped the matchup 14-3.

The Beavers lineup scored three runs on five hits and two walks. The effort was led by Nattie Murillo and Emma LaFave. The pair each recorded RBI singles. Paige Druskis also recorded an RBI in the contest.

Kennedi Claycomb started inside the circle for the Beavers. The junior was charged with her fourth loss after allowing eight runs (six earned) over 2.2 innings. The decision moves Claycomb's record to 1-4 on the year. LaFave pitched the the rest of the game, allowing six runs (two earned) over 1.1 innings.

GAME 2

A defensive miscue in the first inning aided a four run La Verne rally. The rally proved to be too much for the Beavers lineup to overcome as they were held to three runs as La Verne went on to score another three runs.

Nattie Murillo once again led the charge for the Beavers. They scored all of their three runs with her at the plate. Murillo finished the game with a double and two runs driven.

Cyrah Rasmussen got the start inside the circle. The freshman was charged with her first loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in a six inning complete game effort. The decision moves Rasmussen's record on the year to 1-1.

NEXT UP: BVU (3-9) will resume their spring break trip on Wednesday, March 8 with a double header at the Chapman University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (CT).
