Rainbow Six improves to 2-0 in NECC while Smash falls to 0-2

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Rainbow Six and Smash Crew Battle squads competed in Week 2 of National Esports Collegiate Conference competition last night. Rainbow Six picked up their second 2-0 (7-5, 7-0) victory this week over Catawba. They improve to 2-0. The Smash Crew squad battled tough but fell 2-0 (12-2, 12-8) against Sacramento State University. 

 Rainbow Six squad had a tight contested first map against Catawba. The two teams battled back and forth to a 5-5 tie before BVU finished the map with the last two rounds earning the 7-5 victory. Seth Gallardo led the way with 22 kills while Nathan Reusch had nine. Dylan Anderson finished with seven while Andrew Melohn had five. 

In map two the Beavers rolled to a 7-0 victory. This time the Beavers kills were pretty even with Reusch getting nine, Gallardo eight and then Melohn, Anderson and Alex Hartman all had six. 

They Smash squad had some stiff competition falling to Sacremento State. In the first round BVU lost 12-2 with their only three stock victories coming from Elphazard Kadisha and Aaron Van Roekel. They put up a better battle in the second match falling 12-8. Kadisha took two stocks while Noah Thurston took three. Eli Krob and Katlyn Burch each took one stock off their oppoents. 

League of Legends looks to improve to 2-0 on the young season as they take on Dunwoody Hawks JV at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 15.
