Storm Lake, Iowa (April 8, 2022) - The Buena Vista University softball team has their first conference road challenge this weekend as they travel to Faber-Clark Field to face off against Loras. The Beavers (18-8) will play o. 22 Loras (15-1) in a doubleheader beginning at 1 & 3 p.m. Â
BVU played two conference games against both Dubuque and Coe over the last week, splitting both of those match-ups. This weekend will be the ultimate test as Loras has two of the reigning conference players of the week, including Ashlyn Hemm who leads the conference with 142 strikeouts. Â
The Beavers will be up for the challenge as five players come in hitting above .330. Carlee Guyett leads the charge for the Beavers with a .411 batting average and 37 hits that leads the entire American Rivers Conference. Chloe Wells follows her with 32 hits that ranks second in the league to go with a .402 average.Â
Ashtyn Miller continues to show her dominance on offense and defense. On the mound she ranks third in strikeouts with 68, is tied for third with eight wins and is third with 1.50 ERA over 70.0 innings. Offensively, she is also ranking second in RBIs amongst A-R-C players with 25.Â
Loras enters on a six-game win streak and is coming off a pair of one-run nailbiters over Simpson College earlier in the week to begin its conference slate.Â
