STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista Rocket League teams went a combined 5-1 last night in National Esports Collegiate Conference competition while Valorant went 1-1 against Coe in a scrimmage. BVU White went 2-1 and finished activation with a 4-1 record while BVU Navy went 3-0 and finish 5-1 in activation games. After two weeks the Rocket League teams are 9-2 in activation games and 10-3 overall in games played.
BVU White opened up the night with a convincing 3-0 win over Central Methodist Reserve. The Beavers won the first game 6-0 with
Ryan Webb and
Nick Rose each getting three goals and assist and three saves. In game two the beavers won 6-3 with Webb and Rose both getting three goals and eight shots apiece. The final game was a little closer but three goals from Rose and two from Webb game the Beavers the 5-4 victory and the 3-0 win.
The second game was a battle for BVU White as they took on George Fox Gold. The Beavers got down 2-0 falling in the first game 2-0 and the second game 3-2. The team continued to battle picking up a 2-0 win with Webb and
Nathan Jaeger getting goals. The next game saw Webb get two goals and Jaeger getting one tying the series at two apiece with a 3-1 victory. The deciding game went into overtime where Jaeger got the goal to give the Beavers the 3-2 victory.
The final game of the night was a little tougher as they would fall 3-0 against Concordia (Wis.) White. The squad played tough in the opener falling 5-4 with Webb getting three goals. The second game CWW won 6-2 and the third game wast a 5-2 victory for CWW.
BVU Navy had a solid night going 3-0 in their first game against Bryant University. The won 2-0, 5-1 and 4-3.
Matthew Jewell got two goals in the first and second games to help the Beavers cruise to the victory.
In the second game against Kings College (PA) the Beavers against won 3-0. In the first game they won 2-0 with
Skyler Keller and Jewell picking up goals. In game two the teams battled but BVU came out on top 4-3. Jewell scored two goals while Keller and
Dylan Laughlin each scored a goal. The final game the Beavers cruised to a 3-1 victory with Jewell leading the way with two goals and seven shots while Laughlin scored a goal with four shots and Keller had two assists with six shots.
The final game of the night the Beavers took on the New Mexico Tech Miners. BVU Navy won 3-1 to finish off the night 9-1 in games played. The game was tightly contested all night with Laughlin getting two goals in game one to win 2-1. Game two the Beavers won 4-2 with Laughlin getting two goals and Jewell and Keller one. The third game went to the Miners as one of their players scored all five goals in the 5-1 win. In the fourth game the beavers took control outshooting the Miners 9-5 and winning 4-2. Keller led the way with two goals while Jewell finished with four saves.
Valorant played well against Coe in their second scrimmage in two weeks. The Beavers fell in the first map 13-7 before rallying in the second map for the 13-9 victory.
