STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University navy Rocket League team picked up their first victory in NACE Starleague competition. The Beavers defeated Concordia University-St. Paul 3-1 (4-3 OT, 3-2, 0-4, 4-2) evening their record at 1-1. 

In game one the Beavers jumped out to a 2-1 lead before the Golden Bears responded with two goals taking a 3-2 lead with :36 second to go in the contest. Matthew Jewell scored the tying goal as time expired in the fist game and then got the winning goal in overtime. He scored all four games in the 4-3 victory. 

In game two Dylan Laughlin opened up the scoring giving BVU the 1-0 lead. CSP responded tying the game but Jewell responded once again with 2:43 left in the contest. The Golden Bears came back tying the score at two before Skyler Keller got his first goal of the contest give the Beavers the 3-2 win and 2-0 lead in the series. 

Game four was all CSP as they won 4-0 but the Beavers recovered winning the four game 4-2 and taking the series 3-1. Jewell opened the scoring giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead in game four. The Golden Bears tied it at one before BVU scored three of the next four for the victory. 

In the contest Jewell had 7 goals, 1 assist and 7 saves. Keller had 2 goals, 3 assists and 2 saves while Laughlin had 3 goals, 5 assists and 3 saves. The Beavers return to action tomorrow when they take on Bryant, Kings College and New Mexico Junior College at 7:15 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm in NECC competition. The BVU White team plays George Fox, Central Methodist and Concordia (Wis.) White at 7 pm, 8 pm and 8:45 pm.
