STORM LAKE, Iowa (May 7, 2021) - All the scoring came in the first two innings but the Buena Vista softball team came up short, 3-2, against Nebraska Wesleyan in the final game of the team's three-game series on Friday afternoon. The game concluded the home schedule for BVU.
The Prairie Wolves got on the board right away in the first inning with a two-run double to the gap in left center field for a 2-0 lead. The Beavers came right back in the bottom half, scoring the first run on an obstruction at home plate on a bunt attempt by
Rylee Cain. Mckynze Hansen then followed with an RBI single to pull even.
NWU pushed across what proved to be the game-winning run in the second inning on a throwing error.
Ashtyn Miller took over to begin the second inning for the Beavers and would be the hard-luck loser after allowing just the one unearned run and three hits while striking out nine.
BVU was held to just four singles in the contest while the Prairie Wolves had four singles and the one double.
Buena Vista now sits at 15-20 overall (7-16 A-R-C) and will wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon when it heads back down to Pella to conclude its three-game series with Central College. First pitch of that contest is set for 1:00 p.m.
