STORM LAKE, Iowa (April 27, 2021) - The Buena Vista University Beaver softball team defends the lake once again on Tuesday evening against Nebraska Wesleyan in a double header.  BVU has been off since hosting Wartburg on April 17-18.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Beavers faced off against Wartburg college last weekend and went 1-2 in the three-game series.  BVU took the opener 5-4 before losing a pair narrow contests in games two and three. In that third game, the Beavers held a 6-0 advantage before the Knights rallied late to edge BVU, 8-6.
 

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
The Prairie Wolves prepare for their double header against the Beavers after the games were postponed due to weather related reasons. Nebraska Wesleyan seeks to reverse their three-game losing streak after giving up three wins to Simpson last weekend. Nebraska Wesleyan currently sits at 10-16 overall on the season, scoring 109 runs so far. Overall some players to look out for are Alycin Braun with a .360 avg and 11 runs. Another threat is the home run leader Valerie Gerlach, with six home runs and the team-high of RBI's with 17. The pitching threat for Nebraska Wesleyan is Kailey Meyer (named pitcher of the week on April 19th) sporting an ERA of 3.96 and 8-7 for the year. 
 

BVU NOTES
--Senior Carlee Guyett leads the team with a .413 batting average this season. 

--BVU ranks fifth overall in the A-R-C in team batting average (.311) 

--The Beavers are fourth overall with 51 doubles, just 11 behind league-leading Dubuque (62) 

-- Guyett is third in the league this season lead with 10 doubles and needs one more to become the program's all-time career leader

-- BVU is third in the A-R-C with 65 stolen bases and is 20th overall in DIII 

-- Miller is third among all pitchers in the conference with 83 strikeouts on the mound this season 

--  The Beavers have not dropped more than three straight games all season 

-- Ashtyn Miller was named the A-R-C Softball Position Player of the Week on March 15 

ON DECK: The Beavers will play at home again when Dubuque comes into Storm Lake on Friday April, 30th featuring a double header at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. They will play their third game on Sunday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. p.m.
