DECORAH, Iowa (April 11, 2021) - The Buena Vista softball team resumed its suspended game with Luther College to begin the day on Sunday, and the Beavers would tack on two insurance runs in the seventh inning to take down the Norse, 8-4. Carlee Guyett got the rally started with a two-run home run in the third. She then reached on an error in the fifth inning which resulted in the tying run.
Michaela Mason doubled to center to give the team its first lead at 5-3 and BVU never looked back.
Nataliah Murillo doubled home a run in the sixth before adding a couple of insurance runs in the seventh.
Mason finished with three hits as Guyett also doubled and tied the school record with her 39th career double. BVU had four extra-base hits in the contest with Luther finishing with two.
Ashtyn Miller went the distance inside the circle, allowing just four hits and overcame seven walks with eight strikeouts.
The Norse responded in a big way in the doubleheader by scoring four times in the first inning of game two and then putting up eight runs in the opening frame of the nightcap. BVU was held to just nine total hits in those two games.
