INDIANOLA, Iowa (March 21, 2021) - The Buena Vista softball team couldn't get the bats to come to life over the weekend as the Beavers fell again on Sunday at Simpson College 6-2 as the Storm completed the three-game series sweep.
A two-run home run to left center in the second put Simpson in front early before the Beavers cut the deficit in half in the third by scoring an unearned run following one of the Storm's three errors. The Storm, however, added two more runs to their total in the home half of the inning to extend the margin to 4-1 before a second two-run home run by the team in the sixth inning broke the game open. BVU pushed across a late run in the seventh with
Carlee Guyett's RBI single.
Guyett finished 1-for-3 with the RBI and a walk. She moves into the top-10 on the program's career hit list with 133.
Michaela Mason went 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and
Kayden Archibeque doubled and finished 1-for-3. Â
Ashtyn Miller was charged with four runs over 3.1 innings and couldn't overcome five walks.Â
Carrie Dose was charged with the final two runs over two innings of relief.
Megan Crockett had two hits, including one of the two home runs to help lead the Storm, who improve to 5-4 (3-0 A-R-C).
Buena Vista dips to 8-7 on the year (0-3 A-R-C) and looks to get back on track when the team plays its home opener against Loras College. The three-game series with the Duhawks is scheduled to get underway on Thursday (March 25) with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
