STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Esports team picked up its first ever victories against another opponent in Madden and FIFA this past week while the Rainbow Six Siege team continued play in FACEIT and started competition in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).
On Monday, February 8 the Esports was very busy with three NACE Madden PS games and Rainbow Six Siege competing in their first competition in the NECC league. In Madden,
Nico Flores (2-0) piked up the first actual victory against an opponent from a different school. Flores lost the first game 34-14 against Joseph Tiger of Newberry College. Flores regrouped playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning the final two games 32-12 and 21-0 to take the three game series.
Kyle Miller (1-1) played Doug223 of Muskingum University tough but fell 35-28 and 35-21.
Derien Beauregard (1-1) fell to CJL42 of Milwaukee School of Engineering 31-21 and 31-14.
The Rainbow Six (0-1) squad is competing in the Challengers league of the NECC league. Their first round match was against Concordia University (Wis.) The squad played better but fell 2-0 (7-3, 7-0).
On Wednesday, February 10 Jon Corcoran evened his record at 1-1 in the NACE PS FIFA league. Corcoran went up against JAYD of Keiser University - Pembroke Pines. Corcoran gave up one goal on the night winning 4-0 and 2-1. The Rainbow Six (0-4) team continued competition in the FACEIT Central League against yet another Big Ten school. This time they took on a feisty University of Iowa squad falling 2-0 (7-0, 7-1).
Tanner Frost (2-0) was scheduled to play against Luc.Larson10 of the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday evening but a no show by his opponent gave him another forfeit victory.
Ramon Garcia had a bye.
This coming week Rainbow Six Siege will play against Central Methodist University at 4 pm on Monday, February 15 in NECC competition. The match will be streamed and broadcasted on twitch.tv/necc_esports. They will also play against Alama College in FACEIT with a date and time to be determined. Also, on Monday Madden PS will resume play. Miller will play against Eastern University while Flores and Beauregard play against Chowan University and Shenandoah University respectively. Game start at 7 pm.
Cocoran is scheduled to continue play on Wednesday, February 17 against Coffeyville Community College while Frost and Garcia play Waldorf and Bryant & Stratton College on Thursday, February 18. Match times are scheduled for 7 pm.
The Super Smash Brothers team is scheduled to compete in the Collegiate Star League NW Regional #4 tournament on Sunday, February 21. Match time is set to begin at 1:30 pm.
