STORM LAKE, Iowa (October 9, 2021) - The Buena Vista University men's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on Saturday against Finlandia on Saturday afternoon but the Lions stormed back with three second half goals and handed the Beavers a tough 3-2 home loss.
Brody Steinfeldt broke a scoreless match with his third goal of the year midway through the first half before
Jacob Adams doubled the lead off an assist by
Evan Edwards just a minute later.
The Lions got on the board during the 61' before pulling even with 20 minutes to play off a penalty kick. It remained tied until the 78' minute when Finlandia went in front for the first time on Wandile Ngwenya's second goal of the game.
Both teams were even on shots in the contest with 10 apiece, including a match-high four from junior
Braedan Evans. Adams followed with three and the duo combined for five of the team's seven shots-on-goal.
Noah Hoffman was charged with all three goals and posted three saves while playing the first 82 minutes. Isaia Thomas closed things out over the final eight minutes.
Buena Vista is now 2-7-2 overall and will move back into American Rivers Conference play on Tuesday night October 12 with a road match at Wartburg College. Start time against the Knights is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
