Box Score 2 St. Catherine pulled away late in the first game of the day on Wednesday, scoring four runs in the final two innings to defeat BVU, 5-0. The Beavers, however, came back in their final game of the day by taking a 1-0 thriller against St. Olaf.
St. Catherine got an RBI single in the first and that is the way the game stood until another run-scoring single in the fifth before a two-run home run broke things open. It then added a solo shot in the sixth for the game's final run.
Keely Bycroft went 2-for-3 to lead the Beavers at the plate as all five of the team's hits were singles.
Bycroft suffered a tough loss inside the circle, going the distance, scattering nine hits and walking two.
BVU scored a late run against St. Olaf and hung on for the narrow victory. Final stats aren't currently available.
Buena Vista now sits at 8-4 on the year and will wrap up its spring trip with two more games on Thursday, starting with Hendrix at 8:00am CST.
