Box Score 2 Buena Vista sophomore Keely Bycroft turned in a stellar week at the plate for the Beavers, and has been awarded for those efforts by being the IIAC Softball Position Player of the Week.
The first baseman/designated player record nine hits in 18 at-bats for the week to run her current hit streak to eight games. She was instrumental during BVU's first sweep of Central since 1996 by going 4-for-7 at the dish with before blasting a pair of solo home runs against second-ranked Luther College on Saturday.
Those two home runs hit give her four on the year which moves her into the top-five of the IIAC this season. They were also just the second and third home runs allowed by Norse pitching this season with the first run snapping Luther's string of six straight shutout victories.
Bycroft gives the Beavers such recognition for the second straight week (Jeanne Bramhall).
Buena Vista is 18-13 on the year (5-3 IIAC) and looks to move closer to its first 20-win season since 2001 when it travels to Simpson College for an IIAC doubleheader this afternoon starting at 3:00pm.
