Elizabeth Aumann Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

Buena Vista head volleyball coach Aubrey Havlichek has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Aumann has her top assistant coach beginning in the fall of 2018.

Aumann played volleyball at the collegiate level for three years, including Kishwaukee Community College in DeKalb, Ill., as well as Michigan Tech.  While at Kishwaukee, she was named First Team All-Region and was an all-conference selection both years.  In 2012, she was part of a team that placed eighth at the National Junior College National Volleyball Tournament.

From December of 2014 thru March of 2017, Aumann served as a Club Volleyball Coach for the FoxFire Volleyball Club in Racine, Wis.  She also spent the 2016 season as the junior varsity coach at Racine Lutheran High School before also serving as the junior varsity basketball coach later than same school year.

"I am absolutely thrilled to have Rosie on staff," says Havlichek.  "I had the honor of playing with her for a season at Michigan Tech and saw first hand the passion she has for the game. She is eager and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Having two gingers on staff will be a fiery dynamic, but I am confident we possess complementary temperaments and approaches to get the most out each other and, in turn, the team!"

Outside of coaching, Aumann was a speed and agility intern at Racine Lutheran High School from June-August of 2016 where she conducted workouts for three to four days a week for 10 weeks.  She was also a trainer at 9 Round Kickboxing Gym in Racine, Wis., during that same time frame and assisted 15-30 members on their daily workouts.

Aumann set her high school's career record for assists with 3,426, setting single-season records in both 2008 and 2009.

"Her playing experience at the JuCo level will be an asset to our recruiting efforts as well as her connections to various clubs in Wisconsin," adds Havlichek. "Because she was a setter, she will be instrumental in implementing our offensive system and will work closely with our setters to build upon and grow their skill sets. Rosie spent various summers working closely with her old high school working camps for various ages. I am excited to harness her camp experience as we look to implement various camps for all levels to keep volleyball in the hearts of those in and around Storm Lake."

Aumann earned a bachelor of science degree in sports management from UW-Parkside in December of 2016.
