Beaver Wrestling Competes at Tough Luther College Open

The Buena Vista wrestling team was back in action on Saturday at the annual Luther College Open in Decorah. Several elite wrestlers and teams take part in the event, and Buena Vista had one placewinner - Nathan Lamas at 165 pounds in the Silver Division.

Lamas earned a bye before dropping his first match of the day.  He did bounce back in his first consolation match with a 6-3 decision.  The day then ended after he fell by technical fall in the sixth-place bout.

Junior Brad Kerkhoff opened his season for Buena Vista and earned a pin in his first outing before suffering a pair of tough losses.  He now has 40 wins in his career.  The Beavers earned 11 total victories on the day.

Buena Vista will continue its schedule next Saturday when it takes part in the Auggie Open in Minneapolis starting at 9:00 a.m.
