The Iowa Conference announced its 2017 All-Iowa Conference women's basketball teams on Thursday, and Buena Vista junior Jasmine Demers earned such recognition for the first time in her career by being voted to the Second Team.
During IIAC play this season, Demers was 10th in scoring (13.4ppg), sixth in rebounding (7.4rpg), eighth in field goal percentage (.381) and seventh in steals (1.9). She scored in double figures in 10 of the 16 games, including 25 points against Nebraska Wesleyan on January 30. She recorded three double-doubles during league play, including a 15-point, 10-assist contest against Wartburg early in January while also dishing out five assists.
Wartburg College's Katie Sommer was named the IIAC Player of the Year while Loras College's Lori Obendorf was tabbed the IIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Bob Amsberry (Wartburg College) was voted as the Coach of the Year.
Buena Vista wrapped up its season at 14-13 overall (9-7 IIAC), placing fourth in the IIAC and advancing into the tournament semifinals.
