Men's Cross Country Runs Strong to Close out Season at Regional Championships

The Buena Vista men's cross country team wrapped up its season on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Central Regional Championships.

Senior Ben Sampson was the team's top finisher with his all-time best mark in 27:26 (110th).  Senior Steven Smith was next in 28:50 while Max Johnson crossed the finish line in 29:58.  Tyler Larson (30:38) also ran his fastest all-time mark and Zach Kenny (31:02) rounded out the scoring five.

Alex Loerts and Kevin Blaha-Polson also ran for the Beavers.

"I was very pleased with the effort and results that the men produced today," said BVU head coach Colt Slack. "Across the board, our guys were fighting and clawing every mile. I was especially proud of our seniors, Ben sampson, Steve Smith, and Tyler Larson. Sampson and Larson both ran lifetime bests and that is a great way to cap off great careers. Justin Sacker did not compete today but he has been a solid leader this cross county season. He is excited and anticipating a successful track season! Overall, I am extremely proud of this group of runners."
