Dostal Captures a Pair of Top-Six Finishes; Beall Takes Fourth in Discus on Final Day of IIAC Championships

Senior Brennan Dostal wrapped up his final career showing at the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships with top-five overall finishes in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, respectively, on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Central College.

Dostal reached the finish line of the 100 meter race in a time of 11.07 seconds and was just over a tenth of a second out of an all-conference finish.  He then turned to the 200 where he hoped to regain an all-conference mark but came up just short yet again, placing sixth in a time of 22.27 seconds and coming within a half-second of a top-three clocking.  He closed out the championships by running a leg on the 4x400 meter relay that came in eighth.

Drew Beall had a strong showing in the discus, posting a personal best heave of 152-11 and placing fourth while coming within a foot of earning all-conference accolades.  Garrett Rohlk also gave BVU additional team points in the event with an eighth-place toss of 140-8.

Sam McCain gave the Beavers an eighth-place effort in the triple jump with a leap of 13.05 meters.

Buena Vista notched 23 total team points on the weekend and placed eighth as a team.  Central College tallied 172 points to take the team title by 28 points over runner-up Dubuque.

The Beavers will send select individuals to the Last Chance Meet hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill., on Thursday, May 17.
