Buena Vista senior guard David Jeffries has been named this week's Iowa Conference Men's Basketball Co-Performer of the Week. It's the second such honor for him this season.
Jeffries had a monster week as the Beavers took over sole possession of the IIAC lead with a pair of convincing league victories.
In Wednesday night's 91-75 road win at previously unbeaten Nebraska Wesleyan, he scored 18 points and dished out five assists. Then on Saturday afternoon against visiting Central College, Jeffries scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with three rebounds and two assists, as the Beavers outscored the Dutch by 14 in the second half to win, 93-80. Jeffries scored 14 of those points in the second half en route to his first 20-point outing since the IIAC opener at Simpson.
For the week, Jeffries shot better than 68 percent from the field and made 4-of-5 from downtown.
Buena Vista has won a season-high six straight games to improve its record to 11-2 (4-0 IIAC). It's the team's best start to an IIAC season since going 6-0 in 2008-09.
The Beavers look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday night at the University of Dubuque (8-5, 0-4 IIAC). Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m.
