Buena Vista jumped out to a 4-0 lead after its first at-bat on Sunday against Oberlin, and that proved to be more than enough offense, as Jake Lewis pitched six shutout innings to help BVU blank Oberlin, 8-0.
Three of the four Beaver runs in the opening frame came on bases loaded walks. The fourth came on a fielding miscue by Oberlin.
Rheault finished 2-for-5, including a triple to go along with the RBI and a run scored. Porter Sartor also had two hits and stole one base while Candor had the one hit and drove in three.
Lewis scattered six hits over his six innings of work while striking out two and walking a pair. The bullpen did the rest Jayden Clark striking out one over his two innings before Nate Haveman stuck out two of his three batters faced in the ninth.
Buena Vista evens its overall record at 5-5 and will return to the diamond on Monday against Carthage at 12:30pm CST.
