Ringblom and Eddie Highlight the ABCA All-Region Selections

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Central Region Baseball Teams have been announced, and the Buena Vista baseball team was once again well represented on the list with five individuals earning recognition.  Senior starting pitcher Jon Ringblom was again named the region Pitcher of the Year while head coach Steve Eddie was named Coach of the Year.

The five total selections matched top-ranked Webster University, as well as Augustana College (Ill.) by the most of any team in the region this season.

Ringblom was also named Pitcher of the Year in the d3baseball.com voting which was announced earlier this week.  He concluded the year at 8-2 overall with an ERA of 1.14 which was tops in the region.  Eddie, meanwhile, is the Coach of the Year by the ABCA for the second time in his career (2011).  He guided BVU to a school record 37 wins this season and its third 30-win campaign since 2010.

In addition to Ringblom, those who also earned First Team recognition for the Beavers were sophomore Brandon Wessels (catcher) and junior Scott Harris (starting pitcher).  Those two were also First Team selections by d3baseball.com earlier this week.

Sophomore Neil Marshall was a Second Team selection among outfielders with senior second baseman Weston Foxx landing Third Team recognition.

Ringblom (Second Team) was the only one selected to any of the ABCA All-Region teams in 2013.

Aside from BVU, eight additional players from around the IIAC also earned recognition, including three each from Wartburg and Central.
